VULCAN RESERVIOR

A stillwater stocked with Carp,Tench,Bream,Roach,Rudd,Ides,Chub, Cruican Carp and Orfe

A pleasant fishing water surrounded by trees with a car park next to the water ,the fishing platforms go out into the water also available are disabled angling platforms as you enter the water .

The water is easily fished on the pole though the water is only fished on 3 sides, the school side is not pegged out .A island in the middle makes a interesting fishing feature that holds fish a round the trees on the island .

Most pegs have a feature by them lilly pads or reeds in the margins that carp and tench feed around .

The water is not very deep varying between 2 1/2 ft to 3ft loose feeding will bring most fish up off the bottom. So catching on the drop is the normal method here ,feeding every cast will bring you a bite .

Fishing the bottom with groundbait will start your swim fizzing as the massive head of skimmers in this water feed on your bait with the tench and carp among then give you a good days fishing .

Vulcan Reservoir in November and Fish

The day of the visit to this water was a cold foggy morning in november arriving around 9.30am and selecting to fish the peg off the concrete wall creating 2 swims ,one 10mters out towards the island a other shorter close in on the 6mter line..

Starting to fish the 6meter line with a little groundbait and fishing pinkie on a small drennan dibber with 3 no11 styles and a 20,s hook, loose feeding pinkies every cast ,sport was slow for the first hour then a nice size roach slide into the landing net .Spacing the styles out roach ,rudd and and small chub come steadily over the next hour .

Potting in groundbait with casters and pellet on the 10mter line near the island, bubbles fizzing told me skimmers had moved on to the groundbait feeding 4mm pellets with one on the hook a bait right away brought a small carp to the net .Fishing the bottom a bite a cast with a few big runs on the elastic of bigger carp and tench ,skimmers and bigger bream also come on to the pellet..
